"The future of every community lies in capturing the passion, imagination, and resources of its people.” So wrote Dr Ernest Sirolli, a community iron man.
Since we took the laurel tree down to clear space for the new shelter, the stump left behind has been rather an eyesore.

Stump removal comes at a price so we've taken the path of least resistance, and left that tree stump right where it is in the ground.
We are very lucky to have among us some artistic, creative gardeners. They've cleared around the stump, trimmed the ivy, added compost around the base and in crevices on the trunk and planted a variety of flowers.

What was a dull old tree stump is being transformed into what will soon be a beautiful garden focal point!
