Twenty-eight members and friends enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch in the Lakeside Hotel on Saturday 3 December. Many thanks to our Chairperson for organising this very welcome occasion, the first Christmas celebration since COVID.

After a delicious lunch it was time for Secret Santa. Members were asked to find a gift costing no more than EUR5 for another member previously picked out of a hat.

In beautifully wrapped parcels members discovered woolly hats, festive fare, decorations, craft items and other goodies.

The Christmas elf treated everyone to a seasonal song. Well done.

The chairperson found a special gift for the best-dressed person, the treasurer kitted out for the occasion in the Canadian maple leaf tartan. The colours in the tartan represent the four colours of the maple leaf through the seasons: green in summer, gold in early autumn, red at first frost and brown when the leaf has fallen.

The lunch was a very welcome opportunity for existing and new members to meet and get to know each other. May there be many more in days to come.
